The VALORANT Champions Tour 2022, returning as the annual circuit for VALORANT, is back in Indonesia with the commencement of the 2022 VCT Stage 1 – Challengers Indonesia, where One Up Organizer once again serves as the official representative partner for VCT organizers in Indonesia.
The online Open Qualifiers attracted 77 teams, which were then narrowed down to 32 teams to continue their journey in the Open Qualifier Swiss Format. After this phase, the teams will once again compete for the 13 slots towards the group stage, with the thirteen teams being Bigetron Arctic, MORPH Impact, Team F, Ethereal, Boy With Love, Lord of Heist, Bob The Builder, Team Frog, Team Pelarian, Big Gaming ID, Dewa United, Beast, and Cereal Killers. These thirteen teams will then face three invited teams, namely ONIC G, Alter Ego, and BOOM Esports, to compete for 8 slots towards the Main Event Knockouts.
The group stage has concluded, producing the top eight teams to advance to the Main Event Knockouts. The six teams are BOOM Esports, ONIC G, Alter Ego, Boy With Love, Bigetron Arctic, Dewa United, and Ethereal.
For BOOM Esports and ONIC G, both teams carry high expectations as they were prominent teams from the previous year, and as expected, they became the first teams to secure slots for the Main Event. Next are Alter Ego and Boy With Love (BWL), with BWL being a team comprised of veterans and successfully advancing to the Main Event after defeating Dewa United and Ethereal.
While four slots have been filled, Bigetron Arctic, strengthened by many young players, swept Team Frog 2-0 and secured their place in the Main Event. Beast, in a fiercely contested match against Lords of Heist, played through three maps before sealing the victory for Beast. On the other side, there was a rematch between Big Gaming ID and Dewa United, which unfortunately ended with Dewa United emerging victorious. Lastly, Ethereal cleanly swept Team Pelarian with a score of 2-0.
With the conclusion of the group stage, the Main Event of the 2022 VCT Stage 1 – Challengers Indonesia is set to begin from February 23 to 28, 2022. The top three teams will represent Indonesia in the Asia-Pacific regional competition.
