Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, the latest game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios, once again brings the latest absurdity through Sujinmon Battles with mechanics similar to Pokémon games!
For those of you who have played the Yakuza series: Like a Dragon or Yakuza 7, you’re surely familiar with the presence of Sujimon Sensei. The professor who asks you to encounter various enemies to complete his Sujidex list.
Not only reunited, but Sujimon Sensei will also provide a new side mission that invites you to participate in the Sujimon League. It’s a Sujimon Battles competition with mechanics akin to Pokemon games.
Sujimon Battles is a team-based competition where you’ll engage in 3 vs 3 battles with your owned Sujimon. In this setup, Kasuga plays the role of a trainer, issuing commands to secure victory.
Each team consists of three main Sujimon and (up to) three substitutes. These Sujimon come in five different types, each with its own weaknesses and strengths. The battle mechanics, in essence, resemble a rock-paper-scissors mini-game, reminiscent of the Management mini-game.
After participating in several Sujimon Battles, you’ll have the chance to recruit a Sujimon. You can obtain them by offering a Suji Gift, and if accepted, they become part of your team.
You can also acquire Sujimon through Raids. However, it’s important to note that they will disappear after a few turns, so you need to defeat them quickly.
Feeling a bit unlucky? You can still get them through a gacha system at various Sujimon Gacha spots available around Hawaii.
After obtaining the desired Sujimon, you need to train them to become stronger and compete in the Sujimon League. To strengthen them, provide some Sujimunch, nutritional drinks designed for Sujimon.
Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth also introduces Awakening to increase the level cap by ‘awakening‘ Sujimon of the same species. Then, because this side mission takes inspiration from Pokemon, these Sujimon can also evolve into even better forms.
The absurdity of these Sujimon doesn’t stop here. After restoring Dondoko Island, a new feature that allows you to build a civilization akin to Animal Crossing, you also train them in Dondoko Farm by battling nuisance creatures like wild pigs, bears, and bulls.
By engaging in various activities here with the Sujimon, Kasuga will feel more connected with them and perform better in Sujimon Battles.
In addition to Aquanaut, Samurai, Desperado, Kunoichi, Housekeeper, and Geodancer, it turns out that Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth still provides you with a new Job, namely Sujimancer.
This Job allows you to use several Sujimon to assist you in battle.
What do you think about this new feature that makes the game even more absurd, guys?
