Stardew Valley is a game that emerged from ConcernedApe’s inspiration for farming simulation games like Harvest Moon. Despite starting as an indie game with 8-bit visuals, it successfully became the most popular farming simulation game among gamers.
The latest news comes from a former Stardew Valley developer who introduces a similar life-simulation game with 8-bit visuals. Let’s take a look together at the early glimpses of the game!
News comes from Arthur ‘Mr. Podunkian’ Lee, a former contributor to Stardew Valley. In a tweet on his X, he shared early glimpses of a game he’s working on, which bears a striking resemblance to Stardew.
Mr. Podunkian narrates a story about his partner buying a bike this year. This inspired him to add a rideable bike to the game he is currently developing.
You can check out a snippet of the game in the attached clip:
My girlfriend and I bought city bikes this year, which led to my decision that I absolutely needed to add a bike to my game. Will they be customizable with unusually expensive addons? Only time will tell. pic.twitter.com/nVoYZVDLvV

Taking place in a city setting, it makes sense that a mode of transportation like a bicycle is essential in the game. Here, you can even engage in mountain biking with your bicycle.
In addition to biking, players can read books and enhance their ‘Reading skill.’ You can even read a book while lounging on the bed. Truly capturing the essence of relaxation!
Earlier this year, I showed off how you read books you’ve found by taking a seat to kill time. As you level up your Reading skill, you can earn the ability to read in bed, which is useful for both early-day-enders and people who play a lot of multiplayer! pic.twitter.com/08JiZXwY5J

Not only that, but the former Stardew developer also includes hot springs, reminiscent of what we find in classic Harvest Moon games. This means that even though the cityscape and layout are strikingly similar to the assets from Stardew Valley, Mr. Podunkian introduces some different elements not found in Stardew.
And it’s also hoped that in the future, he introduces more new elements that make it unique compared to other life-simulation games. However, as of now, Mr. Podunkian has not determined a name for the early stages of his creation.
